Antoni Szałowski
Szałowski and Mycielski met while they were studying in Paris. The former was Nadia Boulanger’s student as well. Both men were active in the Association of Young Polish Musicians in Paris. Shortly after the war, when Mycielski found himself in Paris in the spring of 1945, he and Szałowski were making plans for a revival of the Association. However, Mycielski decided to return to Poland, while Szałowski remained in Paris as an émigré. The two men remained friends until the end. Thanks to Mycielski (supported by Andrzej Panufnik) Szałowski’s legacy found its way into the National Library in Warsaw after his death.
