Zygmunt Mycielski’s companion. They met shortly after Mycielski’s return from German captivity, in late 1945 in Kraków. Staś, a classics graduate, was exceptionally intelligent. He and Mycielski quickly became friends After a few years Mycielski helped him settle in Warsaw, initially hiring him to work at the Polish Composers’ Union’s office. In the end Kołodziejczyk ended up in the Czytelnik publishing house, where he was responsible for Greek and Roman publications. In 1958 they moved into one flat (though into separate rooms), at ul. Chmielna (at that time ul. Rutkowskiego) 10/31. Although they were not a couple in the classic sense of the term, they became each other’s closest friends. Shortly after Mycielski’s death Kołodziejczyk wrote to Andrzej Panufnik:

I’m empty inside, as if paralysed. As if a piece of living flesh had been torn out of me. [...] Everything except His death is indifferent to me, meaningless”(Zygmunt Mycielski – Andrzej Panufnik. Korespondencja, part 3: Supplement, Warsaw 2021).
